Bono, first FIV+ rescue in the Sanctuary

Bono’s Special Vet Care

An exhaustive vet check-up that has given us more info on Bono's challenging past and current health. Abandoned and abused, Bono is a senior cat, about 8 years old or more. He tested FIV+ (feline AIDS). He has a severe infection in his ears (otitis) and has been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Bono is our first FIV+ rescue. He's been in the Sanctuary since January 16, 2016. We have already spent around $350 in his special vet care costs. Additional Urine lab culture, abdominal ultrasound, and 2 otic pipettes (booster dose) costs were estimated in $180 and were to be paid off on his next follow-up visit. However extra charges (around $60) will be applied to run further tests needed.

Latest UPDATE  June 28, 2017

Bono’s kidney disease has been diagnosed upon testing his blood levels of creatinine. However, the diagnosis is not 100% accurate if only a blood chemistry is run.

Further tests that measures UPC and SDMA values (which are specific to determine kidney malfunctioning) needs to be run. Additionally, an ultrasound of the lower abdomen is also needed. His ‘otitis externa’ is currently being treated with Osurnia otic ear gel and will be needing a booster dose to be effective.

Urine lab culture, ultrasound and 2 otic pipettes costs were estimated in $180 however extra charges around $60 will apply for the additional tests needed. Bono’s follow-up visit is this Friday June 30th.

We urgently need YOUR HELP to pay off his vet bills. Please GIVE. Thank you!
