RIP Salem 06-11-2022

Final Update June 12, 2022

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share with you the news that our FeLV+ rescue Salem crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday morning at about 11.30 am.

Chest x-rays showed clear signs of metastatic lung disease and we had to make the hard decision to let him go.

We were by his side as he took his final breath, giving him love and comfort until the very end.

Salem was rescued in March 2015 at the age of 1, and enjoyed eight happy years with us and his roommates at the Sanctuary; he will live forever in our hearts ❤️🐾

Previous UPDATE  June 10, 2022

FeLV+ rescue Salem who was diagnosed with FVR (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis) last March, has suffered a setback earlier this week and is back on corticoids since Tuesday.

Although most of the FVR symptoms went away with treatment, the heavy breathing continued; the vet suspects of a growing mass in his lungs that is yet to be confirmed. He’s been extremely lethargic, not eating much and breathing with much more difficulty over the last 24 hours.

At first, meds seemed to be working but not anymore. We’re taking him to the vet tomorrow for a new checkup and X-Rays. Please keep Salem in your thoughts and prayers ❤️
