MOLLY
Rescued in March 2015, aged 2.
Found abandoned inside a cardboard box at one of Paul’s feral cat colony. PTSD. Signs of abuse and neglect.
Rescue Story
Molly is our first and only rescue dog, she was found abandoned inside a cardboard box at one of Paul’s feral colonies. She was terrified, hungry, and full of fleas and ticks!
She was so terrified she could not move a muscle so we thought she was disabled. We rushed her to the emergency vet for an urgent checkup.

Although she could not stand nor walk, after her first checkup the vet confirmed she was not disabled, there is nothing wrong with her legs; she suffers from a severe post-traumatic syndrome as a result of prolonged abuse and neglect.
She is also emanciated so she’ll be needing a special diet and of course lots of TLC!

She was given a warm bath to remove all ticks and fleas, had a healthy dinner and she’s is now sleeping safe and sound in our bathroom while she makes a full recovery and is ready to meet the cats at the Sanctuary.
She is so weak and exhausted, she can barely stand up to pee on the training pads. Last night she started to shake like a leaf, we had to cover her with a couple of blankets.

UPDATE April 2015: Still struggling
She was very nervous and vomited a few times during the night but after a while she calmed down and slept quietly throughout the rest of the night but she hasnt eaten much at all. She looks confused and depressed.

We dont know much about dogs, we never had one before so we’ll be asking our vet for advice.

UPDATE April 2015: She’s a keeper!
Molly has had such a rough start in life, she so deserves a second chance but adopting her out in such conditions is very difficult so she has been welcomed to join our feline rescues in our small cat sanctuary.
She’s a very fearful pup, very traumatized by the abuse and neglect she has been subjected to but she’s slowly learning what is like to be loved and feel safe.

UPDATE May 2015: Meeting the kitties!
So far, so good! It took her no time to blend in and she gets along famously with her feline friends.

UPDATE May 2015: Healthy and happy
Molly was spayed a few weeks ago and today we took her to the vet’s for follow up visit. Everything went great and she’s recovering well. Although she continues to be very fearful of the outside world and people in general, she is now a very healthy and happy puppy!

UPDATE: Best buddies
It’s been a bit over a year since Molly was rescued. Although she still refuses to walk on a leash, she’s settled in and has become especially fond of the youngest kitties at the sanctuary, TJ and Mimi.

UPDATE March 2025
Molly is now 12 years old and has been a resident of the sanctuary for ten years. Due to the unimaginable abuse and neglect she suffered as a puppy, a decade later, she still lives with PTSD and we can’t walk her on a leash outside the sanctuary. She only feels safe being home in her bed and she does not move around much so Paul takes her in his arms to go to the upstairs terrace a few times a day so she can sunbathe, play fetch and go potty.
