Rescued in April 2016, aged 6 weeks. Tested FeLV/FIV NEGATIVE.

Feral kitten. Found in distress after spending six days without her very sick nursing mama (Chloé) who had left her babies to seek help.

Rescue Story

After rescuing Chloé, we realized she was a nursing mama and so we started searching for her newborn babies all over the place but those babies were nowhere to be found.

We couldn’t hear or see anything so after a couple of hours we just gave up all hope of finding them alive. But we kept thinking, what if they were alive out there somewhere?

How could they make it on their own without their nursing mother? It was a scary thought but there seemed to be nothing we could do to help them.

Six days after Chloé’s rescue, we were in the sanctuary’s outdoor area when we heard some desperate ‘little meows’…

They were very loud and clear! No doubt there were small kittens crying for help, out there somewhere, but where? and after six long days could they be Chloe’s?

We immediately went to our rooftop and searched the place all over again, but we found nothing there!

We went out and started walking towards the meowing. It was coming from a rooftop of a house nearby (about 100 mts away from the Sanctuary) but the owners weren’t home.

Finally, around 9 pm, we contacted the owners of the house, and they allowed us to access their rooftop and there they were!

Two teeny-tiny skinny fur babies all dirty and covered in bird’s poop. Finding Chloé’s kittens alive after six days without their mother was quite a MIRACLE!

The family offered to keep one of the babies and so we brought the other one in; a little girl that looks just like her mama, and we’ve named her Mimi.

Mimi’s had a warm bath to get rid of the fleas and pigeon poop she had all over her little body, and then she was ready to hopefully be reunited with her mama.

At the time, Chloé was on the mend with antibiotics, she had been diagnosed with Mastitis and she had not made a full recovery so she could not continue to nurse her babies but we took Mimi to Chloe’s room anyway to see her reaction.

Chloé was very sick and in pain so she immediately rejected the baby which meant we had to find Mimi an adoptive mommy.

Mimi is getting lots of TLC from all of us at the Sanctuary and she even found herself a new mommy, our rescue Kitty, who is taking really good care of her new baby!

This little girl has a voracious appetite for dry food, tuna … and human fingers too 🙂

UPDATE 2023

Mimi is now 7 years old and has lived in the Sanctuary her whole life. Over the first couple of years Mimi was a very traumatized and fearful cat, but with the love and care she received from her adoptive mama Kitty she has been able to slowly overcome her fears and now she leads a happy life and she has never had any major health issue so far.
