FeLV+ rescue Negrita rushed to the vet hospital after a large infected wound was found in her anal area. She was diagnosed with an anal gland infection.
Vet visit UPDATE: The vet explained that, in senior cats, anal glands can become infected and create an abscess; a very painful condition that often leads to constipation.
Negrita was given shots of corticosteroids, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics and she had to be hospitalized to have the abscess drained and constipation monitored.
The fact that she’s a senior cat with Leukemia (FeLV+) makes her be more at risk.
