LUNA

Yesterday (08/12/2026), we rescued this precious little baby from Cricket’s colony. Just 4 weeks old, she was found wandering around, barely able to see and unable to find her food. Jackie scooped her up, cleaned her eyes but noticed that that the poor baby was in very bad conditions so she rushed the kitten straight to the emergency vet.

She was diagnosed with a severe case of conjunctivitis, and although she is now receiving round-the-clock care, going blind is still a very real possibility if we cannot get the infection under control. She is still not out of the woods. It will take time, intensive treatment, and lots of TLC to nurse this tiny girl back to health and hopefully save her precious eyesight.

Rescued on the same day as the solar eclipse, there was no question what to name her. Welcome to the sanctuary, little Luna

Luna’s UPDATE 08.15.2026 – Still Fighting

Our little Luna continues to receive medication and round-the-clock care, but sadly, there’s been no significant improvement so far. She remains stable, but now we’re also seeing new symptoms, including sneezing and faster breathing.

At just 4 weeks old, Luna is incredibly tiny and fragile. She is all skin and bones, with her little ribs and spine clearly showing, which makes her even more vulnerable. Every medication must be carefully dosed, so we have to take things step by step, closely monitoring her and adjusting her treatment as new symptoms arise.

She’s still fighting, and we’re not giving up on her.

Luna’s UPDATE 08.17.2026 – Not out of the woods yet!

We had to rush our little Luna to the emergency vet on Sunday after she developed a high temperature and could barely open her eyes, she slighly opens her mouth to get some air. Her new symptoms — sneezing and increasingly fast breathing — had also become significantly worse.

The vet reassessed her entire treatment and made several changes. Luna was given antibiotic and anti-inflammatory injections, along with supplements to help support her fragile immune system. She also has new eye drops containing antibiotics and corticosteroids to try to bring the severe infection under control.

Sadly, so far, we have seen no real improvement

Luna isn’t completely lethargic and she still wants to eat, but she can’t her nasal congestion is getting worse and worse, making it increasingly difficult for her to breathe and swallow.

She is already severely underweight and malnourished, so we’re becoming deeply worried about her little life, not just the possibility of her losing her eyesight. If she stops eating and drinking, she simply won’t have the strength to keep fighting.

She’s not out of the woods and we are not giving up on her We are doing everything we can, every hour of every day, to keep this tiny girl alive and give her a chance.
