Cheeky’s vet visit (Calicivirus)
After a long and exhaustive vet visit, it’s been confirmed that Cheeky has come down with Calicivirus. However, it’s still unclear whether this is the cause of her nausea and poor appetite. The vet explained that the ulcers are mainly on the outside of her mouth, and her throat is not that red or swollen, so it shouldn’t be causing her significant difficulty eating.

Based on her symptoms, the vet feels it looks more like gastrointestinal irritation or possible pancreatitis. Cheeky was given a Cerenia injection for nausea and will continue treatment at home with ¼ tablet of Cerenia every 24 hours, along with Omeprazole, Improinmune (an immune system–boosting supplement), and Ozonest (eye drops to help with her excessive eye discharge).

If she doesn’t respond well to the treatment within five days, we’ll need to take her back for an abdominal ultrasound.
This wasn’t the news we were expecting, and we’re feeling quite worried. Please keep Cheeky in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
PS: Frankie seems to be doing better and she has already started eating some wet food.
