Lunita hospitalized and taken into the ICU chamber

Our little girl took a heartbreaking turn earlier today. Her congestion became so severe that she stopped eating, and her already fragile little body simply couldn’t keep up. Her weight has dropped from 440 grams to just 350 grams — almost 20% of her tiny body weight. Her temperature then fell to a dangerously low 35.1°C (95.2°F). She became extremely weak and could no longer stand.

We rushed Luna to the hospital, where she was admitted immediately and taken straight into the ICU chamber. Her legs are so incredibly tiny and fragile that the veterinary team couldn’t place the IV there, so the catheter had to be placed in her tiny neck to give her the fluids and medication she desperately needs.

She is being kept warm while receiving meds, IV fluids and oxygen to help her little lungs and give her the support she needs to fight.

Her prognosis is reserved, and the next 24 hours will be critical. But our tiny Luna is still fighting. She is clinging to life with everything her little body has left, and we are not giving up on her

UPDATE: ICU Day 2

We went to visit our little Luna at noon, and she gave us a few precious reasons to hope But she continues to be in critical condition and is still fighting for her life.

Jackie placed her on the soft, fluffy blanket we brought for her, and as she gently caressed Luna’s little head, she felt her drift into a deep, peaceful sleep The moment Luna heard Jackie’s voice, she relaxed completely, with her little mouth closed and breathing slowly.

For a while, they even took her off oxygen to see how she would manage on her own.

Her blood glucose is a good 88, and she is now stable at 350 grams, with no further weight loss. Her temperature remains very low at 34°C, so she is still incredibly fragile and needs intensive care.

But seeing our tiny girl so peaceful, sleeping on her fluffy blanket while Jackie stroked her head, felt like a little miracle today. Please keep fighting, sweet Luna. We’re right here with you

UPDATE: ICU Day 3

Our little Luna has suffered a serious setback. She has lost more weight, her temperature has dropped dangerously low again, and her blood sugar is also very low.

She remains in the ICU under a heater, fighting with everything her tiny body has left.
