Miracles Do Happen!
Dear friends and supporters,
Miracles don’t only happen in the Bible or in the movies. They happen in real life too, and we are living proof.
Two angels sent by God and Jesus, Jim and Kim, gave us the greatest gift we could ever imagine. They bought us a home and, in doing so, saved our lives.
It may sound impossible, but it is true.
Here’s briefly how it all happened:
Fifteen years ago, Jackie and I left our ordinary lives behind to dedicate ourselves entirely to helping abandoned cats. We started with nothing—no money, no stable jobs, no health insurance, no home of our own, no family or friends to support us, and as immigrants in a foreign country, no safety net. Our only possessions were endless compassion for abandoned animals and our faith.
For years, we survived on donations and the occasional small job, somehow finding a way through each day. I often told Jackie:
“We are flying without wings.”
Inevitably, in today’s society with inverted values, we reached our breaking point between 2023 and 2024. We could no longer survive under those difficult circumstances, so in 2025, as a last desperate attempt to save everyone at the sanctuary—including ourselves—from becoming homeless, we launched a fundraiser to buy a home.
Then, in 2026, our miracle arrived.
Jim and Kim, a kind-hearted, compassionate couple of deep faith, stepped into our lives and saved us by buying us a house.
Today, we celebrate this miracle not only with Jim and Kim, but with every person who donated towards the downpayment, sponsored a rescue or supported us in any other way.
Thank you all! Without you, we would never have made it this far.
Every single one of you who supported us along this long and difficult journey helped save us and made this miracle possible.
Please don’t leave us now.
Although we now have the security of a home, our mission continues—not only to keep our small cat sanctuary running, but also to feed and care for cats outside the sanctuary and, for that matter, any other animal in need of help. Every day, we push ourselves beyond our limits to make ends meet and cover the long list of expenses this endless labour of love requires, especially as we have no steady source of income.
Here’s where we are today:
Every morning, Jackie heads out to feed and care for the feral cats at Vinny and Cricket’s colony before returning to look after every resident and to take care of the tasks that come with running a cat sanctuary.
As for me, I had to step back from helping cats outside the sanctuary after my physical and mental health collapsed last May.
I chose not to be admitted to hospital
because I simply couldn’t leave Jackie to shoulder this enormous responsibility alone.
So many lives depend on us.
Way too many years of pushing far beyond my limits while carrying the responsibility of so many vulnerable lives in such desperate circumstances finally caught up with me. Yet I have no choice but to keep working, avoiding work outside the sanctuary.
Looking back at the miracle we’ve received, one thing stands out above everything else. Even when we believed we had reached the end, when we had almost lost all hope, we never stopped helping homeless cats who needed us. We never turned our backs on them.
This is why God and Jesus chose to save us by miraculously sending Jim and Kim into our lives.
An unshakable belief in doing good without expecting anything in return, can lead to the greatest miracles of all.
Today, for the first time in fifteen years, we can celebrate a small triumph of good over evil. At last, compassion and faith have won after a long and painful battle.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this miracle!
Blessings to all,
Paul and Jackie
